This book is awesome. It has so many great elements in it, but if I tried to list them all it'd sound like a strange book. Suffice it to say that it'll make you cringe, cry, and cheer, possibly in that order but more likely each one more than once.
I particularly admire this book's painfully accurate depiction of emotional abuse. Physical abuse is something almost everyone understands, but emotional abuse is harder to define, and this book lays it all out there. What emotional abuse can do to families is no less devastating than the physical kind. I'm grateful to Justina Chen Headley for showing that.
