Wild Magic - Tamora Pierce Aw, I liked this book a lot. I think Pierce's writing has improved somewhat over the early Alanna books. Not that it was bad before, but this is just delightful.

The magic, especially, was great in this book. I loved getting to talk to the different kinds of animals and see how they think. Whales are hardcore pacifists, apparently. But it's all good because you can just RELEASE THE KRAKEN.

I love the character of Daine and I hope the other books in this series are about her, too. I especially want her to figure out who her father is. There seems to be a version of him in many fantasy worlds, and I'm curious to see Pierce's take.
